AKC TESTING & PREPARATION

We offer training and preparation for American Kennel Club evaluations, including the K9 Good Citizen (CGC) and other AKC programs. Our goal is to help dogs demonstrate good manners, confidence, and responsible behavior.

The AKC Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) program is a professionally designed training and certification program that helps dogs and their owners become their best - together.

CGC focuses on a 10-skill test that promotes good manners in dogs and encourages responsible dog ownership. Open to all dogs, including both purebred and mixed breeds, the program has no age requirements, because it’s never too late to learn new skills and strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program is a foundational training course designed to give puppies and their owners a strong start. It focuses on early socialization, basic skills, and responsible ownership, and serves as a great stepping stone toward the Canine Good Citizen® title.

Over at least six weeks of training, participants work toward the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test, administered by an instructor at the end of the course. After passing, owners receive an application to obtain their official AKC certificate or title.

Open to all dogs, including purebreds and mixed breeds, the program helps build a lifelong foundation of good manners and communication.

The AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen® (Urban CGC) is a public access test that evaluates a dog’s ability to demonstrate Canine Good Citizen® skills - and beyond-in real-world urban environments.

This 10-skill test requires dogs to perform reliably in settings with traffic, crowds, noises, smells, and other common city or town distractions. It is designed to show that dogs are well-behaved, well-trained, and under control in public spaces.

Upon passing the evaluation, dogs earn the official AKC Urban CGC title, which is recorded on their AKC title record.

AKC Community Canine is the advanced level of the Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) program. It features a 10-skill test that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Community Canine title, which is recorded on the dog’s AKC title record.

Unlike CGC’s simulated environments, Community Canine evaluates skills in real-world settings such as busy sidewalks, dog shows, therapy environments, or training facilities. The goal is to confirm that dogs can reliably demonstrate good manners and obedience in everyday public situations.

AKC Trick Dog is a fun and engaging training program offered to help dogs and their owners build skills through creative trick training. This program focuses on teaching behaviors designed to entertain, strengthen communication, and enhance the bond between dogs and their handlers.

Tricks can range from simple beginner skills, such as getting into a box on cue, to advanced sequences that combine multiple behaviors into one impressive routine. Training can be completed through guided instruction or in a class setting.

AKC Trick Dog is a great way to build confidence, mental stimulation, and teamwork—while having fun and showing off your dog’s abilities.
